About: a fascinating blend of native varieties to create a wine that has intensity but very light touch, somewhere in between Roig Boig and Maçaners.


Location: Gunyoles.
Size ha: 1.5.
Age: Mando and Sumoll Tinto planted between 1985 and 2010, Xarello in 1949.
Soils: clay-limestone.
Exposition: south west and north east.
Altitude: 280m.
Training: on wire cordon de royat.
Farming: organic, with the emphasis to protect soil moisture and microbial activity.
Average yield hl/ha: 20 to 50 depending the year and grape.
Climate: Mediterranean.


Hand harvested fruit is each processed separately. The Sumoll is pressed direct to tank, the Mando is de-stemmed and moved to tank to ferment on its skins for two weeks, the Xarello between two and three weeks on skins. Then the wines are blended to age for a few months before bottling once fallen clear after the winter.

Tasting: light, salty, with a gentle red berry fruit, with earthy, iron notes. Soft and refreshing and long.

A hot, dry summer followed a wet winter and spring so the wines are both very ripe and reasonably juicy.
Yield hl/ha: Mando 30, Sumoll 35, Xarello 15.

Tasting: Very clean and straightforward rich attack of red and black cherry and persistent, lingering cassis fruit. Fresh, well structured.
